DESCRIPTION:
PW dial only - Waltham, 16S with 43.3mm diameter, ivory colored enamel DS dial, signed "A.W.Co. Waltham" with top line in Old English font, inset registers numbered to 60 at both at both 9 and at 3, three dial feet located at approximately 3.2, 23.5, and 42.8 minutes. An exceedingly unusual dial and the first of its kind we have encountered. The immediately notable features are its identical dual registers and its signature style which matches to what is found among a sizable portion of Waltham's top grade Model 1872 "American Watch Co." production. This dial begs the question of what movement it could have possibly been intended for, speculating freely we can envision perhaps some form of high grade prototype design with two seconds-registers, but at the present it remains a mystery with many questions and no clear answers! In any event, a very interesting piece for the Waltham collector.
CONDITION:
Virtually flawless dial with only negligible pinpoint surface spots right of 8 and right of 1 which both appear to be as-made finish imperfections.
